★ Webbla: I just discovered this awesome software. It can import/export bookmarks. So I can actually sync it (manually) with Safari/Firefox and Delicious. But the screenshot is not that big.
Little Snapper: I love the big screenshot of websites. Great for saving nice layouts. That’s it. For other feature, I prefer Evernote.
Delimport: for searching delicious bookmarks from finder. It’s cool but it’s a bit naggy and not that fast.
★ Evernote: It can sync. It can do OCR (online). It’s free. I like it.
★ Skitch: It edits very conveniently, I use it a lot, and it saves. But it’s not really nice to see it from the program. I’d rather export it to Evernote.
Bento: At first I thought I’m gonna use it to record the money I spent. But now I think it’s better to use other program, as Bento doesn’t do graphs, and I don’t need the address book/ical integration.
★ Things: This one is great. It reminds me of what I need to do and I love the checklist and tagging. It does better than just iCal (too small and crowded). It syncs with iCal, too!
★ iCal: I use it for events. Since it syncs with my z610.
★ Mail/Gmail: imap used. By using Mail I can save it offline. Useful for reference. Though I love Gmail’s GUI, too.

I wish I can just go with only few apps. But they’re not enough I guess. I wish there’s a program that can combine Webbla and Little Snapper and Evernote. A program that combine iCal and Things. But oh well.

Since I only need to have my gmail account checked, I just downloaded Google Notifier and the Growl’s extension. Will see how it goes.

[edit] Maybe it was because I used too much notifier? Not sure. Here’s what I have now.

It’s because for some reason, the sound doesn’t come out from Growl. Hm. So now I’m not using any notification from Mail’s app. I should delete them. But Mail Badger is still a nice thing to have on.

Anyway, it made the printer queue stuck and I had to reset the printer so many times as I tried to print it a few times using a different driver. It gave out a no pages item with few hundreds kb. Weird.

Apparently the solution is to use a driver from 1022. Someone was told by the HP people that if that causes problem to printer/computers, HP won’t be held responsible. Weird. I haven’t tried it again. But probably won’t for now, since I just changed my MP150 cartridge, which I should’ve done beforehand and avoid trouble. Agh.

Plug in a headphone/earphone to the macbook.
Then plug it out. And magically the sound come back. o_O;

Weird, weird thing.

Just found out this. The dictionary is actually built into Safari! Not as fast as Rikaichan, but it’s still cool, and it has better dictionary than Rikaichan.

1. Keyboard
Being used to Windows styled keyboard, it’s a bit tricky to get adjusted to a Mac keyboard, a laptop moreover. The command button, and how different they’re placed. I use shortcuts quite often, so hmm.

2. Cut
Like how iPhone can’t do copy paste, to cut files in Finder, I have to have another window and drag it over. Inconvenient.

3. Replace folder
I haven’t tried and encountered this yet, but I heard that Mac will replace the folder instead of updating it if it has the same name…

4. Sharing
It’s a little hard to share stuff from Mac to Windows, where in windows you just have to right click and share. But once you know how, I think it’s more fun, since you can set it to be write only.

5. Expose and Spaces
I’m a multitasker. I’ll have lots of windows on my screen that you can barely see the title on the taskbar. Having expose and spaces, it’s really more fun to switch between widows and you can control it. Heck, can even see and drag a playing video over the spaces, it’s so cool.

6. Video Codecs
I had difficulties at the beginning, but yeah, codecs for Mac do exists. I think more people begin to use Mac and it’s really easier to play Anime now, compared to what I’ve read before. So far, it’s been playing flawlessly.

7. Japanese Games, Software
They don’t have Mac version, and don’t plan to. That’s the bad thing. =( Though of course there are still Crossover or VMware/Parallels, and the programs are not that heavy to run…

8. Dashboard
Hm, since my previous computer was so slow, having dashboard here is so fun, and I can easily check weather, currency… iTunes lyrics.

9. Manga Viewer
I haven’t used Simple Comics much, but the program I used in Windows, Sequential Image Display, is simple, and easy to run.

10. Paint
There is Skitch, but Mac doesn’t have built in Image editor, or does it?

11. Preview
Being able to view PDF instantly from Finder is so cool. SO COOL. It’s not laggy at all!

12. Spotlight
I can even search for the file comments! I’m not sure why, but my search function in Windows wasn’t running for quite some time. I missed search function.

13. Crashing
Crashing in XP made me press Ctrl+Alt+Del many times. I’ve heard that Mac doesn’t crash, but Mac does. I’ve had some program crash, though none made me quite OSX and it was smooth. It didn’t lag. It didn’t force me to press the same keys many times. Just need to press quit. At least that’s how it’s been so far.

Hmm, maybe that’s it for now. I also have to mention that this speaker is loud!

Candybar
Awesome for changing icons and docks. Though there are some dock files that’s not compatible.

Cocoalicious
I decided to use this delicious. You can make bookmarks private as well. And it’s better to organize it there. The bookmarks on my PC is very messy, and Probably there are still thousands of links buried under that are probably non=t useful anymore, or dead. I want my bookmarks to be organized here. The search function is great. But I wish I can search for “not included keywords”.

Firefox
The browser. I don’t think there are any nice themes for mac firefox out there =( Addons I’m using: DownloadHelper (for flv, youtube, etc), Rikaichan (for instant Japanese-English dictionary), Look up in Dictionary (using built in Mac dictionary), Ubiquity (quicksilver like for firefox, neat). I don’t put my bookmarks on firefox. I just have my frequently opened ones on the toolbar.

Growl
Notification for… various stuff. Tweetr, RSS, Adium…

Natsulion
Tweetr client. Didn’t really like Twitterific.

Skitch
For easier screen capture notation. I don’t know how to notate in Mac without additional software… =( With skitch it’s so easy to resize, annotate, and drag the image to upload it.

Adium
I combined google talk and MSN here. And it’s also possible to have different status names on each.

Bowtie
Combined with iTunes. Looks nice on the desktop.

Coconut Battery
To view your battery’s health and cycle. I haven’t really use it much for now.

Coconut Wifi
Shows available Wifi on menubar. Though I haven’t bring this laptop to places where I can use Wifi freely.

EasyWMA
Very easily convert WMA to mp3. I tried Switch, but it asked for Flip4Mac installation and that didn’t install well. This just worked easily by dragging the files and it’s a small program.

FFmpegX
The other software I tried after crashing QT and failed with Switch. It’s quite a big one. But it also works well. With more formats, too.

iGetter
For leeching purposes. Eheh. I used Flashget on PC before. I haven’t tried this program’s ability to continue downloads. But I like how it extracts the file rightaway after it’s downloaded. Though that might not mean good for manga zip…

iiUsage
I use iinet here in Australia, and it’s a really useful software, it gives percentage and details of how many bandwidth are left.

Little Snitch
For stopping connections from programs to the internet… =9

Mail badger
There’s another alternative, Dockstar. But this one’s free. It puts numbers of unread/read/any messages on the dock icon, customizable. Neat.

MarsEdit
What I’m using now to write this. Has built in image uploader for Picasa/Blogger and WordPress. Post text but doesn’t upload image to LJ or Vox =(

Vienna
RSS reader. Decided to use this one instead of Mail, because I can have folders in here. There’s number of unread indicators, too. Though I don’t think it’s customizable…

VMware Fusion
Decided to use this one since I heard Parallel is buggy. But probably gonna try Parallel when I have time. Windows in VMWare is slow, yes… I use the same copy as the one I use for Bootcamp.

Transmission
For torrent. I think this is the most famous client? I used uTorrent in PC.

There are other softwares I want to try, but well, I only own this macbook for 1.5 days. Hehe, there is time. I haven’t tried: Quicksiver (despite using Ubiquity), Parallel, Simple Comic, Bento, iWork, and will talk more about the above and about the built in Apps later.

Been wanting to get a Mac before I got into university, but was afraid with software limitations… But now that I understand that Mac also has lots of nice softwares, and I did a thorough research online, I finally get it, 5 years later. =)

The MacBook looks so sleek and classy. At first I also think that it’s laptop-PC like, but I heard that actually it comes from previous Mac design. Then I also read tons of MacBook bashing on Macrumors. I was worried if I’ll get a lemon or if it’s really so bad. But nah. It does have slanted keys, and the screen is not that contrast (though I haven’t tried the color calibration). But my casing is perfectly flushed and my screen doesn’t have any dead pixels. I’m 110% satisfied. =D

It’s not a supercomputer and probably can’t be compared with normally spec-ed PC desktop or with the Pro. But I’m really satisfied with it. So far so smooth, though I did have some QT crash when I tried to export something. But that didn’t matter. It played a 19** x 1080 movie a bit laggish, but it was still watchable. The size is 6GB and it was played through network, mind you.

Oh, the keyboard lit up is really nice, too! It dimmed and lit up automatically. Yes I was impressed with that. And the trackpad! I absolutely love it. It’s a bit hard to click, but I can use the tap. The multitouch… it’s really nice. And then there’s expose and spaces. And the screen windows effects.

Bootcamp, internet connection, mouse, it was so easy to set up. I’m just worried with how to keep it clean. Since my place is already a dust heaven…
